The Department of Psychiatry’s Equity and Anti-Racism Committee was created in June of 2020 to provide a forum to clarify and systematically enact Department values and actions regarding inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism. We are committed to doing this through the promotion of the following Department aims (see respective subcommittee webpages for specific actions we are taking):
- Equity in health care – in our Department and community.
- Diversification of the Department workforce and research endeavors.
- Education and Training in diversity with accompanying action opportunities for all Department members across administrative, clinical, and research activities.
- Advocacy and Action – increase media and legislative actions that support the understanding of the scientific study of mental health and wellbeing and the role inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism play in individual and community health outcomes.
If you have questions, want to learn more about the committee, have resources you want to share, or want to learn about opportunities to put anti-racist ideas into action please contact Erri Hewitt at echewitt@wisc.edu.
